Field Sling Plus

The field sling plus bag was the perfect size for short day hikes with my pup. Can throw in a couple of water bottles, collapsible dog bowl, snacks and lots of small odds and ends. Comfortable to wear as a crossover shoulder bag and the clasp to open and close it works great. Material is nice and sturdy and I’m sure I’ll have this a long time. Great bag!

I purchased an original Field Sling, but found it too small for my needs; I wanted something big enough to carry my Field Journal and other items. Offered a suggestion to that end, and here we are. I have used it extensively and really find it holding to the "Lochby standard." About the only additional suggestion I have is that the strap could be heftier. We'll see how it holds up. For now, I have attached a padded strap device from Kavu (see picture). Strap hardware is robust and easy to adjust. Interior compartment has just the right amount of complexity - not too many compartments, not too few. I like the little touch with the plastic clip that holds the adjustable strap in place.

I have been using the field sling plus for about a month or so as an art supply sling. I keep pencils, pens, markers, watercolor kits, & brushes for when I go out for art projects. And so far it’s been an extremely convenient set up. The sling is well made. The strap is also well made and very functional. It’s a good bag. My only criticisms would be that I wish it was just a touch bigger. I’m glad it’s not a huge messenger bag, but… I’ve found it’s pretty easy to fill up. And the other criticism is more of a general sling issue… it’s looks like a purse, because it is a purse lol. But even with that being said, I have some less “purse-like” slings, and this is the sling I use to carry my supplies because it’s simple, functional, and well made. It’s isn’t trying to reinvent the sling. It’s just making a really good one.
