Finally decided to find a "bag" to store my outdoor cooking tools.
I found the Lochby Tool Roll and saw it was the perfect design both functionally and look.
Functionally the biggest benefit it that all the tools are immediately visible and accessible when the roll is laid out. Especially compared to a bag that is opened only from the top.
The roll including tools is now 6cm x 11cm (2.5 inch x 4.5 inch) in diameter but there is still room inside for more tools. Further expansion is also possible because of the flexible closing system with the hook.
In sense of look the waxed canvas material hints towards bushcraft which is a nice fit with my outdoor cooking purpose. But the inside material has a bit of a high tech feel to in as well.
The quality is great and I'm sure it will last for long.
I have only two tips for Lochby
1. an olive green version :-)
2. add a patch of (hook and) loop on the outside so people can customize the roll.
That would allow for tagging the roll with its function and/or differentiate the roll if you have more than one. Lochby could create some common use case patches and bundle them or sell them separately.

This has been a great find, pens don't slip, accessories space is plenty and the external lock keeps everything tight and avoids accidental slips. For the price its a good deal and I strongly recommend.

I love the feeling of the canvas in hands. I put all my pens and art tools in the roll, and it's fat and nice without feeling as if it wants to burst, if that makes sense. I love the ritual of unrolling the kit and sitting down, it makes up the space where my mind opens up to journaling and drawing and outflow.

Can it be used as a dopp kit or first aid kit?
Yes. Nine elastic loops in three sizes hold items upright and in place. Three open pockets and a zippered mesh compartment handle overflow — or anything you don't want loose.
How do you keep items from falling out?
Top and bottom flaps tuck over your items when you roll it up. Roll it tight and nothing shifts.
Can it safely hold a small bottle of fountain pen ink?
Yes. You can use the mesh pocket or the pockets behind the elastic loops, but keep in mind it might affect how tightly the Tool Roll rolls up. For larger items, we recommend the LOCHBY Venture Pouch instead.
Why do some photos show different variations of the elastic loops?
Some images feature an older version of the Tool Roll (see the design evolution here). Our current design includes the most popular option: 4 small, 3 medium and 2 large elastic loops.
